KAT’S FIRST BLOG…

Hey y’all come on in! Get comfy! Stay awhile. Let’s chat!  I’ll tell you a little about the Kat in Kats Kakes. For 13 years now, my dedication has been to my husband and children and ensuring that I am everything they need. As most of you know I’m sure, that’s just impossible! I’m not Jesus! It has taken me that long to realize that Kat needs to be everything to Kat. I missed out or shied-away from, second guessed, or all out quit because I didn’t feel I had what it took. I made every excuse in the book. I waited for signs from God (when He already showed me my purpose through my passion and desire. I just needed to talk to Him first. But that’s another post for another day). 

I finally jumped out my box and I’m so glad I did. Baking cheesecakes has been a true labor of love. My mother introduced me to cheesecake when I was a little girl. Not many of my friends had eaten cheesecake, but once they had Freda’s, they were instant fans. In college I worked for The Cheesecake Factory. I learned so much about myself there. And my love for cheesecakes only grew even more. After I got married, my mom finally shared her recipe!  For years I have made cakes for my family and friends and never thought of selling them to the masses. However, seeing the smiles and dancing at the table after a bit let me know that I was on to something! 

My desire is that my journey inspires someone who may think it’s too late to peruse a dream that it’s not. If you think too many people are already doing that, they’re not! If you feel like there’s not enough time, make it!!! I don’t have all the answers. At 40 I’m starting a fresh; same book, new chapter! Life is a Piece of Cake!
